Sorry for being completely MIA lately. March was a real whirlwind. Nonstop travel. Excitement. Planning. Friends. Fun. Sun. Snow. Tired. I can’t even wrap my head around the fact that it’s already APRIL!
Can you believe it? I only had one weekend in Madrid last month. Let’s just say I’m extremely happy to be home!
Don’t get me wrong, traveling is one of the highlights of my life. But hey, so is relaxing and you can’t always combine the two!
Late last night I returned from one of the longest, yet best weeks of my life.
I’ll definitely be sharing more about my experience later, but as I just arrived home, caught some type of parasite in Morocco (I’ll spare you the details) and really just don’t have the time or energy right now, I’ll simply be sharing some of my favorite photos!
Did you know that the Sahara is the largest “hot” desert in the world, covering 3.6 million square miles of the continent of Africa?! That’s some major surface area ..
Well, during my night camping in Morocco, we hardly scratched the surface. Still, sand dune after sand dune stretched on as far as my feeble eyes could see.
It wasn’t an easy task to capture the immensity of this vast sandy playground in photos, but of course that didn’t stop me from trying.
Most of these pictures were also taken atop an uneven hump as my camel so gracefully thumped along…
For the next week I’ll be popping three pills a day, guzzling bottled water and sticking to a strict BRAT diet, but guess what- every second was worth it.
I have photos and stories for days, but as of right now dehydration and exhaustion has got the best of me. I’ll have to save them for another time.
Here are some snapshots from my trip:
Have you ever been to the Sahara Dessert? If you haven’t, would you like to visit?
If you find yourself in Morocco, be sure to check out this awesome 14-day itinerary covering highlights from the ancient Medinas to the desert!

Oh my gosh, all of your photos are simply stunning! Morocco has been on my list for some time (lets be honest, everywhere is on my list) but these photos are amazing. Great job, and I can’t wait to hear more about your trip!
Thanks Samantha!! Morocco is definitely an amzing destination! 😀
Oh woooowwww! I think it actually just gasped looking at these photos. They.are.stunning!! I especially love the one of the person in orange walking across the sand with footprints behind. I haven’t been to the Sahara desert but I have been to the desert in Arizona and in Chile, which these photos remind me of. Thanks for sharing and get better really soon!
Thanks so much Marcella! I’m so much more motivated to visit other deserts now! Especially those in my own country! ahah
Gorgeous snapshots! Sounds like a pretty incredible experience!
Thanks chica
Beautiful beautiful photos. Feel better! And if for some reason you can’t shake it try an eastern meds Dr!
Thankfully I’m just starting to feel better, but was almost thinking about turning to this advice! Thanks for sharing 😀
Amazing photos. Love the contrast of sky and sand there!
Thanks Natalye! Isn’t it enchanting?!
These pictures are absolutely breathtaking! Hope you had an amazing time exploring and being disconnected for a while!!
Thanks Natalia! I definitely did!
Lauren, these pictures are AMAZING!!! I’ve never been keen to visit the Sahara before (yuck I can’t stand heat) but you’re making it look so gorgeous. Those sand dunes are huge and so perfect looking. What an adventure this must have been! I can’t wait to hear more about your trip!! And get better soon!
Thanks so much Anna! I actually can’t stand the heat either, but March was a perfect time to go! It really wasn’t too too hot! Usually I get uncomfortably hot really easily, but surprisingly I made it along pretty well in the Sahara.. go figure.
Ugh, I’m so jealous you had A WHOLE WEEK in the Sahara?? I was in Morocco for a while, but I didn’t spend so much time in the desert! Can’t wait to hear more about your stories and hopefully the bug goes away soon!
Well a whole week might be exaggerating … 🙂 We only had 2 nights in the Sahara, but were in Morocco for 5 days. Unfortunately a lot of the trip was traveling. But then again, I guess there really is no easy way to get to the desert. Thanks as always for stopping by Michelle XX
Oh wow that is absolutely beautiful! The photos with the people in colourful clothing in them just make them pop even more! It’s so hard to picture (or take a photo of) how immense the desert must be – I mean usually with sand dunes you get up one and boom there’s another one after!
Seriously! And climbing up sand dunes is SO MUCH harder than it looks! The dunes just stretch for miles and miles.. so hard to really capture the experience!
I hope you feel better SOON! These beautiful photos will hopefully make the “experience” worth it in the end! You sound like you’re taking it like a champ, though! Can’t wait to hear more about your trip!
Thanks Christy! The experience was definitely worth it! Bug and all! 😀
These snapshots are, for lack of a better word, incredible – I’m in awe. i assumed that they’d look pretty much like Dubai’s deserts, but it’s very different – the color of the sand, the sky, etc. Gorgeous. Keep it up!
Oooo I would love to visit Dubai’s deserts! Hopefully one day! Thanks so much Abby 😀
Wow, I like your Snapshots, which Camera are you using?
Montanita Hotels
You’ve captured some lovely shots. The desert in the UAE is much the same: sandy, hot, sandy. Maybe a little more windblown. Did I mention hot?
