As many countries are beginning to ease up on lockdown and home quarantine rules, you may feel safe enough to venture out into the real world. It feels incredibly freeing to once again have the option to go outside and interact with friends, family, and colleagues.

Still, I’m choosing to take my time and go about my “re-entry to normality” gradually. I don’t fully safe or comfortable yet to go to certain places that were once a set part of my routine, like the gym, the spa, clothing stores, etc.

This means that I’ve had to get creative and find ways to occupy my time from home. I’ve also been looking for ways to take care of myself, ease up some of that pent up anxiety, and keep my butt in shape. Here are some things I’m doing at home to feel a bit of normality and allow myself to feel good inside and out!

At-Home Workouts

Even if you were used to attending a public gym, you can still stay at home and make use of new technologies like fitness apps. Working out while staying at home not only keeps you healthy but boosts your mood and energy. You can try apps like the 30 day fitness app to find workouts that best suit you and your goals.

By working out at home and challenging yourself to keep going, you will enhance your endurance and give yourself something to look forward to!

Home Spa: Give Yourself a Face Mask or a Facial

Even if you’re not going out and seeing people in the real world, it’s important that you feel good, inside and out! Taking some time to show yourself some love and pamper yourself in this way can help decrease stress and increase happiness. If you have someone else at home with you, why not do it together? I even convinced my stubborn boyfriend to do a charcoal facemask with me one night! ?

Embrace the British Tea Time ☕️

Afternoon tea anyone?  This is something that I’ve been having a lot of fun with. I wouldn’t say that I necessarily make myself a “proper cup of tea” every day, but I have been taking the time to slow down and enjoy a cup of tea in the afternoons.

Of course, you can buy proper English tea, make homemade English biscuits, and have yourself a lovely British-themed afternoon, OR you can just splurge on some tasty tea and deservingly treat yourself.

Get Dressed Up, Put on Some Makeup & Strut your Stuff

I’m not saying that there aren’t days that I slump around in pajamas or sweatpants all day long, but I’ve found that getting dressed up every once in a while and painting my face feels really good. Especially if I have work meetings or need to embody my confident coaching personality, I like to look the part. If I’m going to show up for my clients, I need to first show up for myself!

I’ve also done a few “fancy” date nights with my boyfriend. We order in take out, break out a nice bottle of Spanish wine and put on our “Saturday Night Best.” We’ve found that this makes the difference between any other dinner at home and a romantic date night.

Take a Break and Unplug from Technology and Social Media

When you’re stuck at home, it’s so easy to constantly be connected. To default to hours binging Netflix. To aimlessly scroll through your Instagram feed.

But now more than ever is the time to refresh your mind by unplugging for a few hours each day. In a weird way, we’ve been given the gift of extra time, which is an amazing opportunity to reflect, reevaluate, and set new goals for moving forward.

While on the surface, it may seem that this extra time is better spent packing in more work, taking a break can actually enhance your productivity in the end.

Meditate More (or Give Meditation a Try)

I recently started a 21 day meditation and journaling challenge and I’m loving it. Meditation has been a practice of mine for years, but I’ve never done so consistently.

If you’d like to give meditation a shot or take it more seriously, now is a great time to start. This practice will not only allow you time to disconnect, focus on yourself, and lower your levels of anxiety or stress, but it will also help you get psychologically ready for the busy life that’s waiting when things get back to normal.

I hope you enjoyed these tips and give a few a try. They’ve been my saving grace throughout this experience and are really what’s keeping me sane!

If you’d like to share any “pamper yourself tips” that you’ve been putting into practice during this home quarantine, I’d love to hear from you in the comments below!
