I always joke with friends that the ONLY thing Madrid is missing is a beach. It’s smack in the center of Spain, a few hours from any and all coastlines. Growing up just minutes walking from the beach, I’m used to having water close, and here in Madrid, it can be difficult to find an escape from the suffocating summer heat. Lucky for you, there are plenty of Madrid hotels with pools that you can choose from to make a summer visit that much more enjoyable!
And a bonus for all my digital nomad friends: all of these hotels offer free wifi so you can get some work done by the pool if that’s your jam. 😉
While some of these hotels only allow guests staying at the hotel to access their pools, there are plenty that allow non-guests to visit for a fee. I’ve divided the list up into two sections so you can easily find which Madrid hotels with pools you’d like to visit, depending on which neighborhoods you want to explore.
**While some of these pools are open year-round, most are seasonal. Make sure you check the hotel website or contact the hotel directly to make sure the pool will be open during your visit.

Madrid Hotels with Pools for Guests Only
Hotel Indigo Madrid – Gran Vía
Location: Calle de Silva, 6
Neighborhood: Madrid Centro
Nearest Metros: Callao (L3 & L5) and Ópera (L2 & L5)
The pool at Hotel Indigo Madrid Gran Via is perfect for the hottest of summer days. The small seasonal pool isn’t heated, and the sun doesn’t reach it until later in the day, so you can expect the water to be brisk and refreshing regardless of what time you decide to dive in. As a guest of the hotel, you have exclusive access to the pool and surrounding lounge chairs along with free towel service and snacks.
This Madrid hotel with rooftop pool is centrally located so you can spend all day exploring the city and still make it back in plenty of time to have a dip in the infinity pool at sunset.
If you ask me, this rooftop pool in Madrid is severely underrated. I mean, where else can you enjoy panoramic views of one of Madrid’s unbelievable sunsets while floating in an infinity pool??? There is even a swim up bar so you can grab your favorite cocktail to sip on during golden hour.
Hotel Santo Domingo
Location: Calle de San Bernardo, 1
Neighborhood: Madrid Centro
Nearest Metros: Santo Domingo (L2) and Callao (L3 & L5)
If the phrase, “business in the front, party in the back” could be applied to rooftop pools, Hotel Santo Domingo would fit the bill. While it’s pretty standard for hotel pools to have hours when they’re closed, the small pool at Hotel Santo Domingo doesn’t just close but transforms entirely. The pool is pretty much exactly what you would expect during the day: the perfect spot for relaxing and staying cool.
However, every evening at 8pm a glass floor is placed over it and the area is transformed into what they call the Sunset Lookers Cocktail Terrace. It’s safe to say that the name tells you everything you need to know about what you can expect from this rooftop pool -turned -terrace!
The Hotel Santo Domingo pool is seasonal and only available for guests. One important thing you should know about this particular rooftop pool in Madrid is that towel service is not included. You’ll need to either bring your own or rent them for €3 per towel. (If you’re not picky, I’m sure the bath towels in your room would be sufficient and free.)
Ibis Styles Madrid City Las Ventas
Location: Albacete, Avenida De Badajoz, 1
Neighborhood: Ciudad Lineal
Nearest Metros: Parque Avenidas (L7)
While most Madrid hotels with pools pride themselves on their panoramic views of Madrid, Ibis Styles Madrid City Las Ventas is a little bit different. While you’ll still get to experience a rooftop pool, this seasonal outdoor pool gives you a bit more of an escape from city life by surrounding the pool area with lush greenery on all sides.
At the time of this writing (June 2022), the rooftop swimming pool is scheduled to open this month. One thing to note about this particular Madrid hotel is that since the onset of the pandemic, guests are required to schedule their time at the pool during the hours it is open in order to reduce the number of people there at one time. As of right now, it is unclear when or if this provision will be lifted. If you plan on staying at Ibis Styles Madrid City Las Ventas make sure you confirm with the hotel what the current protocols are for pool access.
Dear Hotel Madrid
Location: Gran Vía, 80
Neighborhood: Madrid Centro
Nearest Metros: Plaza de España (L3 & L10) and Santo Domingo (L2)
This hotel, located right on Gran Vía has a beautiful “skypool” that grants you unparalleled views over Madrid, including views of the city center and Plaza de España. While the Dear Hotel pool is unheated and is pretty small (think closer to the size of a hot tub), you really can’t beat the views you’re granted of the sunset over Casa de Campo.
Plus, you don’t need to worry about anyone blocking your view with a chair because the plunge pool extends all the way to the edge of the building. When you’ve sufficiently cooled yourself off, you can head over to their terrace that offers equally great views with a garden atmosphere.
This particular Madrid rooftop pool is only open June through September, so make sure you contact the hotel prior to your arrival to make sure it will be open during your stay.
Madrid Hotels with Pools Open to the Public
Believe it or not, there are a ton of Madrid hotels with pools that you can visit, even if you’re not actually staying at the hotel! This makes it a lot easier for residents and expats, like me, to avoid melting in the sweltering sun, even if we don’t have pools of our own.

Room Mate Oscar Hotel
Location: Plaza de Pedro Zerolo, 12
Neighborhood: Chueca
Nearest Metros: Gran Vía (L1, L5), Sevilla (L2), and Chueca (L5)
If Room Mate Oscar Hotel sounds familiar to you, it’s probably because you remember me mentioning it in my post about the best rooftops in Madrid. Not only do they have one of the best located rooftops bars in Madrid, they also have a gorgeous, seasonal rooftop pool that is open to the public.
The fee to use the outdoor swimming pool if you are not a guest at the hotel ranges from €40 – €60. While this might seem steep compared to the guest pass rates for other Madrid hotels with pools, it gets you a towel, a tequila, and a refreshing glass of cava. All in all, not a bad deal!
One thing to note if you plan on going pool hopping with your family is that kids are not allowed to use this particular pool, so if you want to bring the little ones then you’re better off exploring one of the other Madrid hotels on this list.
Axel Hotel Madrid
Location: Calle de Atocha, 49
Neighborhood: Barrio de las Letras
Nearest Metros: Antón Martín (L1), Estación del Arte (L1)
Axel Hotel Madrid is considered to have one of the best LGBTQ-friendly rooftop bars in Madrid, and it also has a pretty incredible rooftop pool as well. This hetero friendly rooftop has one of the only rooftop pools in Madrid that is open year round! Not only that, but the pool is even open to non guests of the hotel.
For €20 you will have access to the heated pool, a towel, a drink, and sunscreen. The only downside of this is that non-guests are only allowed to visit on the weekends, when it is sure to be more crowded than a typical weekday.
While this rooftop pool is both LGBTQ+ and hetero friendly, it is not kid friendly. Leave the little ones at home so you can enjoy this adults-only pool undisturbed.
Hotel Riu Plaza España
Location: Calle Gran Vía, 84
Neighborhood: Argüelles
Nearest Metros: Plaza de España (L10 & L3)
Another well-deserving repeat from my best rooftops in Madrid post is Hotel Riu Plaza España. A few floors beneath the breathtaking Sky Bar is a small rooftop pool. Just like the rooftop terrace, this rooftop pool in Madrid is free for guests of the hotel and non guests can gain access for a fee.
Once you’re cooled off and fully refreshed, head upstairs to the famous 360° Terraza y Sky Bar for a drink and to check out the newly added “balcón de cristal.”
Some things to keep in mind: Because this is one of the most popular rooftops in Madrid, I would recommend getting there early if you want to claim one of the sunbeds available. While some booking websites seem to imply that the pool is heated, a lot of the reviews I’ve read mention how cold the pool is. That’s just something to keep in mind if you’re not too keen on particularly cold pools.

Bless Hotel Madrid
Location: Calle de Velázquez, 62
Neighborhood: Salamanca
Nearest Metros: Núñez de Balboa (L5 & L9), Serrano (L4), Velázquez (L4)
The rooftop pool at Bless Hotel Madrid is easily one of the best pools in Madrid (and most luxurious). Like most rooftop pools in Madrid, this one is relatively tiny so you shouldn’t expect to be swimming any laps in it. However, you’ll be surrounded by 360° views of one of the poshest neighborhoods in the city while either cooling off in the seasonal emerald pool or lounging in one of the luxurious Balinese sunbeds that this 5 star hotel has to offer.
The only way to access this seasonal Madrid rooftop pool if you are not a guest of the hotel is to reserve one of their Balinese beds in advance. You’ll need to contact the hotel directly to inquire about pricing and availability.
Madrid Hotels with Pools – Indoor Pools
I know there are a lot of people who prefer indoor swimming pools so they can get a workout in without having to be exposed to the elements. If you’re one of them I wanted to make it extra easy for you to find indoor pools in this post by giving them their own separate section. While there aren’t too many Madrid hotels with pools that are indoors, I was able to round up a few of them for you!
One thing to note is that at the time of this writing, only guests of the respective hotels are allowed access to these pools.
Barcelo Torre de Madrid
Location: Plaza de España, 18
Neighborhood: Argüelles
Nearest Metros: Plaza de España (L10 & L3)
Barcelo Torre de Madrid is the only hotel I’ve found with an indoor pool on a rooftop! The pool deck is bright and airy with massive picture windows that grant you views of the city. It’s also large enough to get your workout in, which is a huge bonus.
Their website states that you must reserve time at the pool in advance. I’m guessing this is a COVID restriction that may or may not still be in place, so make sure you contact the hotel directly before making your way to the top.
Pestana Plaza Mayor Madrid
Location: Calle Imperial, 8
Neighborhood: Madrid Centro
Nearest Metros: Sol (L1, L2, & L3) and La Latina (L5)
Pestana Plaza Mayor Madrid has one of the most unique pools I’ve ever seen! This indoor pool in Madrid is located deep in the depths of the hotel as part of their luxurious spa, and is modeled after a traditional Turkish bath. While this pool is only available for guests to use, don’t be fooled by its proximity to the spa. It is still free for guests of the hotel to enjoy, even if you don’t book any spa services.
Eurostars Suites Mirasierra
Location: Calle de Alfredo Marqueríe, 43
Neighborhood: Mirasierra
Nearest Metros: Herrera Oria (L9)
Eurostars Suites Mirasierra is another rare gem of a Madrid hotel that has two pools for guests to enjoy. They have a rooftop pool far larger than most other rooftop pools in Madrid, and a massive indoor pool.
The indoor pool seems to be a little oddly shaped, so I’m not sure if it would be a good pool for swimming laps in, but it is definitely a great place to relax after a long day of exploring all that Madrid has to offer. It only takes about 25 minutes via metro (which is only a 5 minute walk away) to reach the city center, so you’re not too far away from all the action that downtown has to offer.
Other Madrid Hotels with Pools Worth Visiting
Iberostar Las Letras Gran Vía – Iberostar Las Letras Gran Vía is centrally located and has a small, yet beautiful seasonal rooftop pool. It is also one of the only pools I’ve come across that is actually open past 7pm! There isn’t a lot of seating around the pool, so I would recommend getting there early if you were hoping to grab one of the lounge chairs. This pool is not open to the public. Website | Instagram
Gran Meliá Palacio de los Duques – What Gran Meliá Palacio de los Duques doesn’t have in poolside seating, it certainly makes up for in panoramic views. This seasonal rooftop pool, located in the Austrias district, gives you great views of sites like the Royal Palace and the Almudena Cathedral. There is also a rooftop hot tub, but that is unfortunately seasonal as well. This pool is not open to the public. Website | Instagram
Hotel Emperador – Hotel Emperador has one of the largest rooftop pools in Madrid. It gives off some serious Mediterranean vibes and non-guests can gain access for a fee. The price for admission is €45 per person Monday through Thursday and €63 on holidays and weekends. Website | Instagram
Hard Rock Hotel Madrid – Hard Rock Hotels are found all around the world, so it’s hard to go wrong when you visit one. While the Hard Rock Hotel in Madrid doesn’t have a rooftop pool like most of the hotels included in this roundup, it does have a spacious pool on the ground level that is surrounded by beautiful gardens. The gardens provide a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. This pool is also open mid-April through mid-October, which is significantly longer than most Madrid hotels with pools. Pestana Plaza Mayor Madrid – Pestana Plaza Mayor Madrid deserves to be mentioned on this list twice because it is quite possibly the only hotel in Madrid with not one, but two pools for guests to enjoy! There is a beautiful indoor pool that is modeled after a Turkish or Roman bath, as well as a small rooftop pool that grants you beautiful views of the rooftops of Madrid. Website | Instagram
Hotel Urban – Hotel Urban is the place to stay if you’re looking for a modern hotel dripping in luxury. They have a small, shallow rooftop pool that is perfect for a refreshing swim in the peak of summer. Due to the relatively small pool deck, this probably isn’t the type of pool you would spend all day by. This pool is not open to the public. Website | Instagram
Catalonia Gran Vía – The seasonal rooftop pool at Catalonia Gran Vía is small but mighty. Unlike most of the other pools in Madrid, this one is heated so you can definitely take advantage of it at all times of day. There isn’t a ton of seating available so get there early if lounging by the pool is important to you. This plunge pool is not open to the public. Website | Instagram
Hotel Nuevo Boston – Hotel Nuevo Boston is not in the center of Madrid, but it has free transfers to both Barajas airport and the city center, so if you’re looking for a Madrid hotel with a pool that you can actually take full advantage of then this is it! This pool isn’t on a rooftop, but it’s actually large enough to swim laps in. As of the time of this writing, this pool is only open to guests and you will be limited to one hour if the pool reaches capacity due to their COVID protocols. Website | Instagram
