For those of you that haven’t yet heard the news, Travel Tuesday, one of my favorite blog link ups, is coming to an end today.
Travel Tuesday, started by Bonnie of A Compass Rose, has been a huge part of my blogging world from the time I first started Lauren on Location over 2 years ago! It was a great introduction to a smaller travel blogging community and to this day is where I’ve met most of my best blog friends! I was even fortunate enough to be a Cohost of the linkup with Courtney of Alkek’s Abroad for almost 4 months!
Through the Travel Tuesday blog link up, I learned so much from other bloggers, was encouraged to go to so many new places and motivated to try so many new things. It became one of my favorite places to share my stories with others, while also getting an inside look at different parts of the world through their eyes! Ever since I decided to join up weekly, my travel bucket list has grown a bit out of control!
Participating in Travel Tuesday finally even inspired me to start my own travel linkup, Wanderful Wednesday, along with three other bloggers (who I met through Travel Tuesday by the way!)
Needless to say … I’m going to miss it.
So, as we bid Travel Tuesday a somber farewell, let’s reminisce together on some of the great memories we made through this link up!

The “Complete Guide to the Boardy Barn” was inspired by a Travel Tuesday theme chosen by Marcella of What a Wonderful World, who was cohosting at the time. Back when I was writing it, never did I know that it would end up going pretty viral, reaching over 70,000 unique hits in just one week! To this day it is still my most viewed post and consistently brings in new visitors to my blog! Thanks for the prompt Marcella! 😀
Most Inspiring Post- 10 Reasons to Travel Abroad in Your Twenties
I wrote my “10 Reasons to Travel Abroad in your 20’s Post” for Travel Tuesday a few months back and got such an overwhelming response! I received e-mails and messages from friends, family and acquaintances that had read the article and just wanted to reach out and say how much they enjoyed it! One of my friends even reached out saying that this post had really made her think and that she was finally feeling ready to get out and see the world. She booked a flight to Iceland for a solo trip a few months later! I was ecstatic! The main reason I blog and share my advice/stories is to encourage others to get out and follow their dreams! There’s no better compliment than someone telling you that you were the one that helped them do just that!
Most Personal Post- “Where I Came From and Why I Left”
Prompted by yet another provoking Travel Tuesday Theme was my post “Where I Came From and Why I Left.” Honestly before sitting down to write this article, I hadn’t given myself adequate time to think about this question before. It ended up being a pretty loaded answer for me. Writing this post really made me get to the bottom of why I left home and decided to pursue long-term travel instead of taking the path that most of my friends did and settling down after school. It helped me stop second guessing my decision and helped me realize I was exactly where I needed to be!

I’ve always been a big fan of the “Bucket List.” Writing down specific goals and having them outlined in front of you, makes them so much easier to obtain! I also find having a set list motivates me to get out and make each thing actually happen! This list by Tricia of The Adventure List is so comprehensive and contains the top 5 must-items from 11 different travel bloggers! It was so fun to read and get ideas from! A few of these items have even ended up on my own list!

Hidden Gem- Henningsvaer by Van of Snow in Tromso
Van’s lovely photos of Henningsvaer expose us to yet another stunning hidden gem in the Arctic! With a population of only 450 people, this little city in the Lofoten Islands is definitely off the beaten tourist path, but looks to be very worthy of a visit! I mean, could that little red lighthouse be any cuter?!
6 Cheap Holiday Destinations in Europe by Jordan at Beer Time with Wagner
Traveling on the budget of an English Teacher (especially in pricey Europe territory) ain’t easy, so I’m allllll about learning about new affordable destinations! Of Jordan’s list of 8 budget destinations throughout Europe, I have only traveled to 3, so it added a bunch more to my must-see list! Her beautiful photos are pretty convincing!
How I Travel Often on A Teacher’s Budget by Cynthia at Adventurings
Sticking to the theme above of budget travel, I also found this post by Cynthia of Adventurings super helpful! Being a traveling teacher on a tight budget myself, this post helped remind me where I can cut back a bit and save for what is really important- TRAVEL! She shares some great tips for keeping some extra travel funds handy in our often withering expat bank accounts!

I’ve been a little bummed about the fall weather down here in the Southern Hemisphere lately, as everyone back home is already out sporting their colorful spring best. Looking back on Marcella’s post “Seasons Change” helped pull me myself out of my seasonal depression, reminding me why I love fall: fall colors are my absolute favorite! This post captures them perfectly and despite the incoming cold, helped me remember the true beauty of the current season!

Reading about the Hello Kitty Café in Taipei definitely sticks out in my mind! This place is my first grade self’s dream come true! SO many delicious-looking sweet treats and all with a theme of my favorite childhood kitty! Can’t get much more fun and quirky then that!

Shanna’s pictures of this manmade winter wonderland are stunning! I could hardly believe that it’s located right in Utah! She also posted this during my obsessive Disney Frozen stage, so that only made it more magical and appealing!

Ever since reading all of Ashley’s enticing posts about Nashville, I’ve been dying to get my butt on over there to explore! Of course, Tennessee’s popular capital is known as “Music City” and music is, well, my jam. I’m not normally a museum-type, but the Country Music Hall of Fame, featuring modern exhibits, costumes and walking you through a complete history of the Country Music genre looks like my kind of place! What can I say, I’m a country girl at heart!
Christmas on Both Sides of the World by Jessi of Two Feet One World
In her festive Christmas themed post, Jessi highlights the different things she loves about celebrating Christmas on opposite sides of the globe! Whether she’s spending the holidays with her family in the Southern Hemisphere soaking up the summer sun, or freezing her buns off traditional-Christmas-style up North, she tells us why both experiences are equally special! Coming from a colder-Christmas-climate myself and always looking forward to a a little white dusting, I really enjoyed reading what she liked about a Southern Hemisphere holiday season! Maybe a sunny beachside celebration wouldn’t be so bad after all!

Courtney of Adelante never fails to amaze me with her remarkable travel photography! She’s seriously so talented and really finds a way to capture the unique beauty of every city she visits. This post particularly made me want to pack up my bags and head right to the picture-perfect island paradise, Mallorca!
Drool Worthy Food Photos
What to Eat in Rosarito, Baja California by Ruth at Tanama Tales
Ruth’s food photos always make my mouth water, but this post was especially bad. I LOVE Mexican food. I think I could eat it everyday of the week and never get sick of it. So, the sight of bright green guacamole plopped atop fresh fish tacos and juicy pan friend lobster seriously had me drooling at my computer screen.

I found so many amazing bloggers through the Travel Tuesday linkup, including yours and Courtney’s, which is why I’m so sad to see it ending! Thankfully, you decided to start up the Wanderful Wednesday linkup, so we can still travel the world with some other awesome bloggers! Thank you so much for including me in your favorite posts! My Nashville trip was such a blast, and I loved sharing it with everybody during for Travel Tuesday!
Thanks for helping TT go out on a bang! I really hate to see it go, too. It was the first link-up I joined, and the one through which I’ve made the most blogger friends. Most likely I’ll be transferring “loyalties” to Wanderful Wednesday and hope that one day someone is able to revive TT and give it the time commitment it needs!

Ahh, this brings back some great memories. I can remember reading some of these posts and feeling hugely inspired by them, too! My bucket list is just ridiculous now, but at least I’ll never be lost for things to do when I travel somewhere new.
