I’m not sure if you’ve noticed yet, but Lauren on Location has been undergoing some changes.
A few weeks ago, I decided to give the blog a little makeover. Everything could use a little touchup now and then right?
Since then the process has been going veryyyyy slowwwwly. I’ve also been in the middle of a move and interviewing for a new job [details coming soon..], which unfortunately put the blog on the back burner for a while.
In short, I started a pretty big project, ended up procrastinating [….not like me at all] and it’s been taking a lot longer than I had originally planned.
While I’m still in the process of tweaking some things, I’m finally ready to announce some of these changes!
New Blog Theme
I recently installed a new blog theme from Pretty Darn Cute Design, called FUN.
FUN is Pretty Darn Cute’s newest design and has quickly turned into a bestseller! It is extremely versatile and super easy to set up [which is a lifesaver, because codes are not my friend].
I’ve worked with PDCD a few times now, and their themes and service really are top notch!

A little more about Pretty Darn Cute Designs:
“PDCD has been creating the ultimate in premium Feminine WordPress Themes for over 10 years. They start with the Genesis framework and meticulously craft and test each design until it’s absolutely perfect. All you have to do is install, setup and get back to doing what you love most. Upon purchase you gain access to their unmatched support team waiting to assist you with any questions you might have.”
Thanks so much to Lindsey of PDCD for the amazing theme & support!! I could not have asked for a more user friendly theme! I hope to be one of your most loyal customers! 😀
Pinterest-Inspired European Locations Page
I’ve added a new Pinterest-inspired locations page, hoping to promote easy navigation to my European blog posts!

New Series
‘Support Local Shopping’ Series
For those who are new to my blog, you may not already know that two of my [many] passions are traveling and shopping. Combine these two loves and so was born my Support Local Shopping Series! In this series I share all about the local vendors and independent artisans I’ve discovered during my travels! Whether they’re artists, designers, craftsmen, or farmers, every single one has something incredibly special to share! If you’re someone who likes to bring home unique gifts, seeks out truly one-of-a-kind souvenirs, or simply loves shopping small and supporting the locals, this is the series for you!
‘One Day In’ Series
My ‘One Day In’ series is meant to highlight the best of the best of some pretty awesome cities. I’m inviting fellow bloggers to take on the strenuous challenge of narrowing down their favorite city to only 24 hours. Basically, if these experts only had one day left to spend in their beloved place, I want to know what they would do, where they would go, and most importantly where and what they would eat.
- One Day in Madrid
- One Day in Paris by Christy of What’s up Swags

Well done on the new look – I’m looking for inspiration for a new blog I’m launching in 2016.
Thanks Sally! Can’t wait to see the new blog!
I love blog make-overs!! I’m pretty satisfied with mine at the moment but there’s always something I want to improve – if I just had the time!! Yours looks really nice though! Love the Pinterest-style Travel page!
I LOVE your theme Van! It’s so easy to navigate and user friendly!
Thanks! Nice to hear that! I never get feedback on my theme so it’s good to know 🙂 I had the lovely Kate Jordan design and set it up for me!
Great work on the makeover – I agree, blog admin takes the LOOOONGEST time ever 😉 I’ll be emailing about the One Day In series as well!
Thanks Jessi!! It takes soooo long, but feels so good to see the finished product. Of course its always a work in progress!
I love your pinterest inspired pics for your “locations” page.. I need to work on mine, I just never know what picture to use.
Picking the pictures was honestly the hardest part! I have soooo many photos from each place and it’s so hard to narrow them all down. Thanks for your compliment though, makes all the work worth it 😀
Loving the new design! Mind if I ask how you set up the locations page? I’d like to do something similar, but don’t know how.
Hi Anna, thanks so much!! I used Canva.com to create the images and then uploaded them with links to the categories for my posts! Hope this helps! If you need more help don’t hesitate to shoot me an email! Lauren@laurenonlocation.com
I do like the new design. Lately I’ve been hunting around at Themes to change to but haven’t pulled the trigger on anything yet.
It’s so hard finding the perfect fit! I’m no a techy person AT ALL- so I really have to find something perfect, because I’m not able to make many changes! Hope you find something soon!
The new design is so pretty! And I love your new locations pages! It’ll make it easy for me to go searching around for a post!
Thanks Ashley 😀
It’s always great to adjust and improve your blog! The layout looks great and I’m intrigued to learn more about guests posts. Can’t wait to see how everything develops!
Thanks!! 😀
Good for you Lauren! My blog needs a makeover too. It has not worked properly since the last time I made changes. Are you getting help from someone?
Hey Ruth, I’m actually not! Pretty Darn Cute Designs are realllllly user friendly and have setup guides, tutorials and such included. I’ve been following some instructions, but that’s all!
Aw amazing! It always feels great to refresh! And love that idea of the different categories and such 🙂
